The Cura?ao Gaming Control Board (GCB) is extending the deadline for license applications after a number of operators failed to make high-quality submissions. The one-month extension gives companies until April 30 to meet the necessary standards and the GCB has warned that it will not grant any further leeway.

Some of the submissions were missing certain important information on the three forms and relevant documents that would have led to delays in processing the applications. The regulator will continue going through the applications it received since opening the online submission portal in November.

Cura?ao is cleaning up the way it manages operators, no longer allowing master license holders to issue sub-licenses as they please. The latter now need to get their own approval from the regulator.

bring compliance standards up to modern-day levels

All successful applicants will get a direct license under the current regulatory regime, which will transfer into the new framework once it comes into place. One of the goals behind the crackdown is to bring compliance standards up to modern-day levels and prevent nefarious companies from fraudulently claiming they hold a Cura?ao license.
