The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has fined the parent company of online sportsbook 10Bet ￡620,000 ($748,000) after the firm breached social responsibility licensing rules from November 2019 to June 2021. The UK regulator found negligence in the Blue Star Planet-owned sportsbook’s money laundering and responsible gambling structures, as well as issues in its reporting.

10Bet did not “did not act quickly enough” to help customers

The Commission also took 10Bet to task for not hiring dedicated compliance employees to monitor safer gambling alerts and establish overnight observations, the failures allowing some bettors to exceed thresholds. In addition, the UKGC said 10Bet did not “did not act quickly enough” to help customers, citing two bettors who had evidenced signs of problem gambling.

While the UKGC stated it will direct Blue Star’s fine toward social responsibility causes, the gambling operator also must pony up ￡3,571.25 ($4,308.61) to cover investigation fees.

Even though the year is still young, the UKGC has already levied four major fines in 2023, with In Touch Games, TonyBet, and Vivaro Gaming each being hit with regulatory settlements of ￡6.1m ($7.5m) ￡442,000 ($533,259) and ￡337,000 ($406,580) respectively.
