From soccer to roulette

Brazilian soccer star Neymar Jr. is known for his fancy footwork and silky skills, but he also has a strong following on streaming platform Twitch. Now, after forming a partnership with online casino company Blaze, Neymar has started streaming gambling content to his 2.1 million followers.

The Paris Saint Germain player, full name Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, streamed his gambling exploits live in front of his fans on Saturday. He played various live online casino games on Blaze’s website, including a Crazy Time wheel spinning game and roulette.

Neymar staked €8,960 ($9,766) across multiple numbers

In one roulette clip, now viewed around 2,000 times, Neymar staked €8,960 ($9,766) across multiple numbers. He then won a total of €16,320 ($17,787), proceeding to celebrate with his co-streamer and bang his chair.

Notably, Neymar is one of the richest soccer players in the world, reportedly making $78m per year through his salary with PSG.

A gambling arrangement

It’s no coincidence that Neymar has picked Blaze as his online casino of choice. He announced a partnership with the company in December last year, making him the operator’s official ambassador. Through that agreement, Blaze confirmed Neymar will exclusively promote the brand’s online casino all over the world, “except Brazil.”

Confirming the deal last year, Blaze COO Nick van Gorsel described Neymar as “one of the best football players with hundreds of millions of followers worldwide.” He said the tie-up would allow Blaze to “bring an entirely new gaming experience” to players, specifically in the Latin American market.

Gorsel labeled Blaze the “largest online gaming platform in LATAM.” The firm is licensed in Curacao and popular in Brazil as an offshore gambling option. The country prohibits Brazilian companies from operating online casinos.

Bringing gambling back

In October 2022, Twitch’s slot category lost around 97% of its viewers when the Amazon-owned streaming platform banned unregulated casino content. Since most of its popular streamers played on the unregulated crypto casino Stake, they had to cease creating content or face punishment. In contrast, Blaze seems to deal in euros rather than cryptocurrency.

Trainwreck affirms that Kick will provide streamers with a better cut of profits

Some of those streamers have since moved to new platform Kick. Trainwreck, Roshtein, and Xposed are among the famous gamblers to have made the transition. Although it is still in its early days and working through some bugs and issues, Trainwreck affirms that Kick will provide streamers with a better cut of profits.

In the same week that Trainwreck announced his move to Kick, internet detectives revealed that the platform is actually a product of the online casino company Stake. Some other high-profile streamers, such as Ludwig, have criticized the new platform, deeming the lack of transparency regarding its ownership “nefarious.”
