Retail sportsbook to open this fall

FanDuel Group has secured market access for a retail sportsbook in Washington State after signing a deal with Port Madison Enterprises’ Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.

The casino announced the exclusive agreement on Tuesday via Twitter, stating that the sportsbook will open this fall:

The FanDuel Sportsbook at the casino resort will have three windows for live betting, a dozen self-service betting terminal kiosks, and 17 television screens showing all of the sports action. There will also be three self-service betting kiosks at the casino’s Beach Rock Music and Sports Lounge, with 11 additional screens that can seat more than 250 people.

committed to promoting responsible gambling

Through this partnership, Port Madison Enterprises and FanDuel Group have also committed to promoting responsible gambling. FanDuel offers a variety of in-app tools to help users control their gambling, including the ability to set betting limits, deposit limits, and playing session time limits.

Port Madison Enterprises is the Suquamish Tribe’s business arm. Its goal is to develop the community’s resources while also promoting the social and economic welfare of the tribe through various commercial activities.

An exciting partnership

Port Madison Enterprises board president Greg George spoke about the excitement of having sports betting at the property for the first time. He hopes the deal will lead to the casino becoming the state’s “premier destination for sports betting and the best game-day experience for all of our casino guests”.

revenue coming from sports betting will help both the tribal members and the local non-tribal community

The Suquamish Tribe’s chairman, Leonard Forsman, also welcomed the exclusive partnership. He added that revenue coming from sports betting will help both the tribal members and the local non-tribal community.

FanDuel Group’s vice president of retail, Keith Wall, mentioned in a press release announcing the partnership that the “Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort will be a truly impressive location for the West Coast expansion of our FanDuel Sportsbook retail operations.”

FanDuel Group already has a presence in 50 states and serves more than 12 million customers with its various offerings. In addition to sports betting, FanDuel also has online casinos and extensive daily fantasy sports offerings.

Sports betting in Washington State

The Suquamish Tribe is able to offer retail sports betting as a result of a gambling compact it agreed with Washington State in May this year. The compact was one of the initial nine agreements that got final federal approval at the start of September, following the passage of House Bill 2638 in May 2020 to allow retail sports betting at tribal casinos in the state.

The first retail sportsbook in the state opened on September 9, on the same day as the first fixture of the new NFL season. The Snoqualmie Casino inaugurated the facility, which saw retired Seattle Supersonics legend Shawn Kemp placing the first bet. Washington became the 24th state to have legal sports betting.
